The ABC’s Of List Building – Four Profit Making Strategies Using Experts
Once you’ve gotten a working list of customers and prospects going in your niche, you might be tempted to rest on your laurels and put everything on autopilot. That is the fastest way to losing money that an Internet marketer can think of. Here are a few ideas for you to investigate once you have a profitable list or lists within your niche and sub-niche markets.
Start looking around for the experts in these niche markets. They can be found on Amazon or through other sources such as forums dedicated to your niche. Start contacting them to build relationships based on common interest in your niche. They might not have a big list of customers or prospects but they know an awful lot of people in the field. Get them to collaborate on articles or commission a short report from them. By developing a solid working relationship you will be gaining their trust.
This connection can be made profitable in a number of ways:
1. Ad Swaps
If an expert has a list of comparable size, you can establish a swap of his or her product review for yours. If you find that your list sizes are unbalanced, simply send out to an equal number on both your lists. This method can quickly increase your list within days.
2. Co-ventures
If your experts can come together for a week long virtual conference, they can promote their business or products during an hour seminar or conference by phone. You can set up a long or short tele-seminar series for a group of experts to talk to your members for fee or piece of the entrance fee.
3. Joint ventures
When two or more Internet marketers get together to share a project in a synergistic way, they are participating in a joint venture. This is different from an ad swap because there is more resource sharing going on.
4. Interviews
We touched on the idea of experts working with you on seminars for an entrance fee; there is another way to approach this process using your list building skills. Interview the expert and sell the audios along with your main product.
You can recruit your list of customers and prospects to share in the profits by paying them to recommend your product. You can even bundle the expert’s product in the mix if you feel confident in managing the process.
List building is not static. You must go back to your marketing plan and come up with ways to make your list more profitable. There is nothing like the reaction you get when you tell an expert that you have contact with 30,000 people who love what they do for a living.

Michael,
Great post. I really like the idea of the interview — I think it would be an excellent way to grow your list.
