I believe that one of the most overlooked secrets of effective list building is the proper selection and use of keywords in building traffic to your blog or web page. Take a look at your keywords if you are new to Internet marketing and don’t have a massive list of prospects yet.

Many of the websites that fail (that’s about 98% of them) do so because they have very little traffic going to visit them. On the web, it’s all about whom you know and who knows you. You must make it easy for people who have an interest in what you sell to find you. That means effective list building depends on massive traffic.

There are three speeds to building massive traffic:

The quick but expensive route -

Using pay per click and online advertising to building your list is expensive but will get you quick results if done right.

The short burst method of getting leads -

Ad swaps, affiliates and viral content will bring in short but impressive results for a few days.

The long term (slower but steady) methods –

Blogging, articles, links exchanges and back links are great ways to develop a steady flow of traffic.

Here is a guide to driving traffic in order to gain effective list building skills.

If you’re just starting out, do your keyword research and build a short list of profitable keywords that have low competition in your market. Keep the search criteria to a daily search level that allows you to get decent traffic for your site if you were on the first page. Get your pay per click account and begin list building. Sure, it will cost you but you want to get moving quickly.

As you generate leads, you’ll make sales, so this is not too bad for your bottom line. Get into the content generating business because you’ll want to ensure a steady stream of free traffic as your business continues to grow.

Create lots of useful content for effective list building -

Write articles, create blogs, add comments on other blogs, and create audios and videos that appear on other sites. These all contribute to the spreading of your message and your brand.

Ad Swaps -

As you develop a growing list of prospects, it’s time to approach other professionals in the market to share list building strategies. Ad swaps and affiliate programs for promoting your products will bring in limited bursts of high volume traffic. Trying to get to this point without a list is futile; you’ll have little to offer other professionals. You’ll be building more back links and getting more momentum.

Don’t forget to follow standard SEO procedures for your web pages in order to get maximum benefits from the search engines. You can drive massive targeted traffic to your site in as little as 60 days. You must be prepared to work for it and or pay for it to get the full benefits of list building in the short term.

Once you’ve gotten a working list of customers and prospects going in your niche, you might be tempted to rest on your laurels and put everything on autopilot. That is the fastest way to losing money that an Internet marketer can think of. Here are a few ideas for you to investigate once you have a profitable list or lists within your niche and sub-niche markets.

Start looking around for the experts in these niche markets. They can be found on Amazon or through other sources such as forums dedicated to your niche. Start contacting them to build relationships based on common interest in your niche. They might not have a big list of customers or prospects but they know an awful lot of people in the field. Get them to collaborate on articles or commission a short report from them. By developing a solid working relationship you will be gaining their trust.

This connection can be made profitable in a number of ways:

1. Ad Swaps

If an expert has a list of comparable size, you can establish a swap of his or her product review for yours. If you find that your list sizes are unbalanced, simply send out to an equal number on both your lists. This method can quickly increase your list within days.

2. Co-ventures

If your experts can come together for a week long virtual conference, they can promote their business or products during an hour seminar or conference by phone. You can set up a long or short tele-seminar series for a group of experts to talk to your members for fee or piece of the entrance fee.

3. Joint ventures

When two or more Internet marketers get together to share a project in a synergistic way, they are participating in a joint venture. This is different from an ad swap because there is more resource sharing going on.

4. Interviews

We touched on the idea of experts working with you on seminars for an entrance fee; there is another way to approach this process using your list building skills. Interview the expert and sell the audios along with your main product.

You can recruit your list of customers and prospects to share in the profits by paying them to recommend your product. You can even bundle the expert’s product in the mix if you feel confident in managing the process.

List building is not static. You must go back to your marketing plan and come up with ways to make your list more profitable. There is nothing like the reaction you get when you tell an expert that you have contact with 30,000 people who love what they do for a living.

If you are looking to build a robust list of prospects for your Internet marketing business, you need to know if your market is viable before you commit the time and energy to building a business around that niche. List building can be a market research tool that yields valuable results.

If you are just starting out and you aren’t sure about your product choice or you want to evaluate whether you have a fair shot at making a profitable business out of your established niche, here are a few things you can do right away to establish niche viability.

Go to Google or Yahoo and type in the main keyword for your market. For example if you typed in “Children’s books” you’ll notice that there are quite a few listings in that category. Take a look at the right side of the screen and you’ll see a list of sponsored ads. The ads ranged from very large companies like Amazon and Barnes and Nobles. You also will find a variety of small companies in the mix as well. This also is reflected in the organic listings as well.

You will be able to evaluate the market based on the competition in the main keyword for your niche. Let’s say you are in the personalized children’s book market. You now have an idea of the scope of your niche because the competition is fierce. There are a lot of pay per click ads in both Google and Yahoo.

So how do we know if we can make it in this market? We need to go to Google’s Keyword Tool to evaluate the appropriate keywords for the sub niche. Once we do, it is important to decide if any of the keywords will allow us to get enough traffic in such a competitive market in a short time.

The reason you want to evaluate the market from a keyword perspective in regard to list building is because you are looking specifically for the people who will find you by their keyword selection.

Once you craft an offer, put it up on a blog or Web 2.0 site. You only need a page with a clear free offer that relates to the chosen keyword and a signup form. The idea is to get people to sign up for your list.

If you find that people are signing up daily, you have a possible working niche. The numbers must match your efforts. One of the most overlooked factors in Internet marketing list building efforts is keyword profitability. It is very possible to build a huge list of prospects off certain keywords and never make a sale. Focus on profitable keywords and never stop testing.

If you have been making money in your favorite niches but find that sales are getting flat, there are a few tricks that can spice up your list building tactics.

Many Internet marketers enjoy a fairly good income in their niche but not really enough to quit their job over. If you are realizing success in a few good niches and would like to increase your profits to double your return, think about extending your niche.

Doubling your niche effectiveness

If you are selling a series of piano lessons and doing well, here’s a way to double your sales. In order to do that you need to drill down in your niche and find others who might be interested in your product.

Take a second look at your niche

Go back to your favorite keyword research program and begin to look a little more closely at your list. Add these factors to your keywords to see what kind of numbers can result.

* Religion

* Sex

* Age

* Affiliation

* Occupation

* Race

* Hobby

* Income

* Ability/Disability

* Weight

* Social Class

* Political Affiliation

Examine long tail keywords

One of the hidden gems you’ll be able to dig up once you append your keywords with the descriptions above will be long tail keywords. These three or more word phrases will begin to jump out at you as you play around with your old keyword phrases. Try adding “How to…” to your existing keywords as well as “How can I…” and see what results.

Check the forums for more inspiration

If there are people paying for your products, there are very likely to be forums dedicated to your product as well. Make your way over to them and look for great questions to add to your list of long tail keywords. The point of this exercise is to dig for hidden pockets of potential customers in areas you have not yet covered.

Expand this exercise

If you have five markets that you currently cover now, get moving and start building new keyword sets for your hidden gems. You might not only find new markets for building profitable lists, you might even develop new products from these keywords as well.

Take it to the next level

Go to websites that cater to these groups and advertise on them. Once you’ve determined that there is a possible market for these sub-niches, seek out the leading websites, magazines, blogs or ezines for these groups and start promoting like crazy. Set up very specific opt-in pages just for these target markets. Don’t make the mistake of lumping them all together in one list. You’ll want to separate them for future targeted products.

There are those who swear by their list of 20 or 30,000 leads. Then there are those with lists of customers who amount to no more than 400 or 500. Yet the smaller list might easily make its owner a fortune. Here’s why.

The point of building email lists is not to collect email addresses. The idea is to have an available pool of prospects for marketing and sales. You want to be able to dip in this pool of customers and prospects whenever you want some money.

It’s like creating your own ATM machine for short term cash or long term profits. Regardless of your list size, you must evaluate the list based on whether you can confidently draw a percent of sales from it at any given time.

Let’s say you have a list of customers who have purchased from you in the past. You are thinking of creating a new product based on feedback from your list. You choose a small cross section of your customer list and send them a series of questions related to your new product idea. Their feedback helps you to create a new product that people actually want.

Manage your lists for maximum profits

When I started out in this business I was very careless about managing my auto-responder lists. I sent out emails to everyone equally. There was no difference between my prospects and my customers.

What I found was that the messages I sent to my prospects were selling the same thing that my customers already had. I was not differentiating between buyers and prospects.

Once someone has purchased from you, they must be immediately removed from your prospect list. You must treat them differently. They are now in a class by themselves and should be treated as such.

When you send out test marketing information to your email lists, never send all your lists the same information. Always reference the unique keywords that got them excited to visit you in the first place. For instance, if they are looking for personalized children’s books, don’t lump them in with the children’s furniture prospects. Or event the children’s clothing prospects.

The art of effective list building requires that you communicate to the list in the unique area of interest they have. In order to approach them about another project you think they might have an interest in, create an opt-in page for your new product and include reference to it in a post to them regarding their own interest.

The amount of profit you make from your email list building will be based on your ability to properly manage your lists. This simple rule never seems to fail to hold up.

The toughest thing to teach a business person who wants to get moving on Internet income is the concept of list building. The reason why is because it initially feels like performing blind archery.
If you are used to direct selling or consultation sales, you know that the process starts with a large group of prospects that then narrows as you eliminate the ones that do not fit the profile for your product or service. If you start with 100 prospects you might eliminate 90 and find 10 qualified prospects.
List building works in a similar fashion but slightly different. Your offer catches those who have an initial interest in your pitch. They make the first move by committing their information in return for your free offer. You build a narrative and a relationship with your prospects as you help them to make a purchasing decision. On average it takes over seven exposures to an offer or product before the average consumer makes the decision to purchase.
List building for your online program allows you to secure initial and ongoing sales from a large enough pool of interested leads. List building requires patience; it usually starts slowly and builds up with time. You will be required to know how to attract the right people and you’ll need to know where to attract them to your site.
You’ll also need to know the numbers it will take to make a profit in your niche and the number needed for escape velocity (that’s when you’ve made a substantial gain in the lead generation business to make money with very little effort). The optimum goal is to use your list to generate more leads through referrals.
So what is process of list building?
There are about eight steps to list building that should be followed regularly and a few more once you get to a level of success that they will benefit you. Here they are primary eight:
1. Establish your niche and its profitability
2. Determine competitive strength
3. Calculate cost of doing business
4. Establish size for break-even point
5. Determine marketing strategy for your sales funnel.
6. Create offer and lead capture system.
7. Create follow up system sales system
8. Build a reward system for referrals
The sales cycle plays a crucial part in list building because your sorted lists will serve more than one purpose. The art of list building is not the same as traffic generation. Traffic generation is about casting a wide net of exposure to get people to your blog or website. List building is about collecting and managing your targeted groups of prospects that have specific interests and leading them through various sales cycles.

How many times have we heard the list the list the money is in the list. That’s right the money is in the list, but how do we build the list that actually does have the money. Alex Jeffrey’s has been telling me now for over a month, give good Free content, give people good valuable information that they can use Free.

Thing is there are a few people who say the same thing. I was just watching a video today from Lee McIntyre, who is a very successful marketer who built his whole business this same way and very rapidly. Rich Schefren, the Guru’s Guru, Alex Jeffrey”s mentor mentions the same thing, I was just recently listening to Rich Schefren on a webinar the other night, on the six key factors to online success.

These are all very highly successful marketers, earning into the millions of dollars a year, and they all say the same thing. Give good valuable content Free. Then ask for feed back, interact with the people on your list, ask them to comment on your blog. Ask your list what they need?, ask your list what they would like from you ? and give it to them Free. Build relationships with your list and if you position yourself correctly, the sales will come, as long as you give good quality products.

This is what the most successful marketers on the Internet are doing today. This is the business behind the website. This is what will make you money. This is what you want to replicate.

To your success,

Alex talks about K.O.T.O.B.O.T Keep on Top Of Being On Top. This phase actually comes from Alex’s first book Post Launch Profits. Someone actually wrote online, the value of K.O.T.O.B.O.T and how it can actually breath new life into your Internet business and virtually over night.

In order to make money online you need a plan, this is the basics but the next step is you need to keep on top of your plan.

Now, do websites make money? No they don’t, it’s the business behind the websites that makes the money, you really need to understand this, people think they throw up websites and the money will come rushing in. That isn’t the case and that is why so many fail.

The business behind a website, this is what a lot of people miss on teaching and why a lot of people don’t understand this exists. As Alex says It doesn’t matter what website you put up, if you have the correct business behind it, it will make money. But if you don’t have the business behind the website it won’t make money.It’s not what somebody is selling but how they are selling it. You need to create a system that will build the business.

Your system needs to drive traffic and and then builds a list. Once we build a system correctly we’re going to be able to monetize that traffic appropriately in other words make money, instead of just going and getting traffic and sending it into no mans land like everyone else does.

The mailing list is the most important and valuable section of the system. Everything else sits around your mailing list. You build relations with the people on your list, you treat every name on your list as a person. Someone adds their name to your list they become a suspect as you build trust they become a prospect and then eventually a customer. This is your foundation this is the business behind the website that Alex Jeffrey’s has been teaching us as his students. Remember this is a business. This is very important and where the money is in the system, if it is built correctly .

Till next time,

All the best

The beginning step to a new and more successful life is absurdly easy. You only have to pay attention to the flow of thoughts inside your mind and direct it accordingly.

Your life is entirely of your own making, so look at the way you are living. You claim you want financial abundance, yet you are constantly bemoaning your lack of money and how expensive things are. You dwell on what you don’t have and the bills coming in. You worry and wonder how you will get along . You may want financial abundance, but because your consciousness is of lack and worry, you will never experience that abundance.

Or maybe you wish you could find a new job or start a business, something interesting and challenging that would use your creativity and pay you well. If you constantly tell yourself these jobs are impossible to find or that it is to hard to start your own business, that it will never happen, it is very unlikely it ever will happen.

Perhaps you wish you could be a more outgoing individual , bold and spontaneous, full of assurance and confidence, yet if you constantly focus on your inferiorities and inadequacies and put yourself down, reminding yourself again and again of your problems, you are not likely to become that type of person. You may want strength, but if your consciousness is of weakness, you are fooling yourself to think you will ever possess that strength.

In short, wanting something badly will not make it happen. Hoping for something different will have no effect. Working hard twelve to fifteen hours a day is wasting your time . You will always remain where you are unless-and it’s a big unless-you change your thinking, Your Mindset.

Want to change your circumstances ? Develop the necessary consciousness (mindset). A successful person has a success consciousness. A wealthy person has developed a prosperity consciousness and their thoughts are on abundance, success and prosperity. This how they think.

“”Easy for them,”" you say.”" When you’re successful it’s easy to think success, and when you’re wealthy it’s easy to think prosperity, but my situation is totally different. I’m not successful; I’m not wealthy The situations of my life keep me down.”"

Wrong! Your circumstances never keep you down. The only things that keep you down and stuck are your thoughts. With work and practice you can learn to direct your thoughts and create any consciousness you choose.Your reality will change only after you’ve developed your new consciousness, not before. The new consciousness, mindset, must come first.

Many people have spoken about mindset in the past , but I like best the way Bob Proctor puts it. If you can see it in your mind you can hold here (your hands).

Till next time,
All the Best
